Rob Bell and MSNBC

Yowzer... Burnt, baby, burnt.

Watch Rob Bell, pastor of Mars Hill Church on MSNBC. It's a pity for him that the host is a Christian who evidently knows his scripture better than Rob does.

I get so sad when 'Christians' preach that Christianity doesn't matter. And I'm super-impressed at how the host is so clear and firm about the way that Bell is mishandling God's Word.

Just pointing out he's the pastor of Mars Hill Bible church. Mars Hill Church is Mark Driscoll's church in Seattle. Rob Bell's church is in Michigan.

Thanks, Carin :) Was confused, myself. Irony, that Rob Bell's got Bible in his church's title... G

i'm truly glad that Bell's inconsistency was exposed in this public way, but in terms of our response, shouldn't there be more weeping and praying on our part for Bell and his followers than vindicated "He really showed him!" glee? Bell is wrong, and needs to be corrected. He's publicly wrong and needs to be corrected in public. But while we must be jealous for the truth -- YES! -- let us not pat ourselves on the back (as i fear we are too quickly proud to do) or even pat the MSNBC host on the back, but rather get down on our knees and weep and pray that this man and his followers would fear Him Who can destroy both soul and body in hell (Matt. 10:28), and that they would repent and trust Him Who showed His love by sending His Son to die that very death that we might live.

You're absolutely right, Marcus. Any and all rebukes should be dealt gently and in a godly manner.

I suppose it's a matter of checking one's own initial reaction - if I was the MSNBC host I might have been just as insistent and frustrated. Furious, in fact.
